Horsing around

For the month of love, we’re turning our gaze to long-legged, wild-maned ardour. While Noordhoek has spectacular mountains, a glorious beach and sunsets that are world famous, perhaps it is its horses that are the valley’s most magnificent feature. So much so that even some of Noordhoek’s streets are named after world famous horses.

Horsing Around is a celebration of the majestic beauty of these noble beasts.

“When we found out that Noordhoek hosts an annual horse competition in February we decided we had to make it our Horsing Around month,” says Art Point’s Aimee Kruger.

We have an outstanding selection of talented artists showcasing their equestrian-inspired works including Joni-Leigh Doran, Andrew Cooper, Clea Witte, Wendy Potgieter, Nola Muller, Shannah Williams, Tuesday Houston, Neil Preyer, Shirene Brielle and Vaune Elliott just to name a few.

Come and soak in the variety of large paintings, quirky illustrations and a few large sculptures all showcasing some aspect of the equine. We have some of our local photographers exhibiting their work too, which means that keen-eyed equine-lovers may even recognise a horse or two.

Horsing Around will be exhibited from 2 – 26 February, with the opening event taking place on Saturday, 4 February from 17:30.

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” – Winston Churchill
