Salon Hecate has something especially lovely planned for Tuesday‘s Salon. It’s August already, which is turning into the Salon’s winter-warmer-comforter month. Given that Women’s Day falls later that week, we’re celebrating women’s writing and publishing — and this is the time of year we consider nurturing and nourishment. Poetry feeds our souls, and we are honoured to be launching, at last, Shari Data’s debut poetry collection, Land/Lines, published by Karavan Press. Some of you may remember Shari from the poetry reading at the Books on the Bay festival in March. Her work flows seamlessly into the themes of memoir and memories that have become the spontaneous topic of most of this year’s Salons so far.
There will also be other surprise poetry readings that chime with Shari’s poems, as well as the sharing of recipes that double up as poems and spells. And depending on the weather, there may be hot soup. There will definitely be wine and small snacks. Please come and join us for what promises to be another evening of warmth and even magic. Plus you’ll be able to admire the Birds exhibition that’s gracing the gallery walls.
Date and Time
Please join us at the gallery on 6 August, 5.30 for 6. Entrance is free, and wine, juice and small snacks will be provided. See here for accessibility notes: Salon Hecate events (noordhoekartpoint.co.za)
Looking forward to the launch
